If your home has sustained damage from Hurricane Sandy here is a list of local shelters and food stations in Nassau & Suffolk Counties.
The American Red Cross shelter locations as of Nov. 2:
Nassau County
- Farmingdale Senior High School
- Levittown Memorial Special Education Center – 150 Abbey Lane in Levittown
- Manhasset High School – 200 Memorial Place, Manhasset
- Nassau Community College – P Building – located at 1 Education Drive in Garden City East
- Glen Cove High School – 150 Doris Lane in Glen Cove

Red Cross Long Island Feeding Stations The Red Cross opened six feeding sites in areas of Long Island that were especially hard-hit by Hurricane Sandy. Three sites are open in Nassau County and three in Suffolk County. Red Cross workers are distributing water, snacks and personal hygiene comfort kits at each location. A total of 3,300 meals (sandwiches) will be available at lunch and dinner at each site. The hours of operation for each feeding site will be 11 am to 1 pm for lunch and from 4 pm to 6 pm for dinner. These sites, listed below, are expected to be operational at least through the weekend.

Additionally, the Red Cross will have emergency aid stations at each location with disaster mental health personnel available to provide emotional support to hurricane affected residents.
In addition: Locations For FEMA Points of Distribution (PODs). A POD is where the public can go to pick up emergency supplies following a disaster.
